BAPTISM
Parents who wish to have their child baptized must attend a Baptism Preparation Class. Classes are held once a month and you can register by calling the rectory office. Baptisms are scheduled following completion of the class. Godparents must be practicing Catholics. Two Catholic Godparents are encouraged, but a non-Catholic is permitted as a Christian witness accompanied by one Catholic godparent. Catholic godparents should present themselves to their pastor so that he can issue them a certificate of eligibility.
FIRST PENANCE, FIRST EUCHARIST, AND CONFIRMATION
Though immediate preparation is given to children before
receiving these Sacraments, children are expected to receive a
Catholic upbringing in their family and have formal religious
education classes (Catholic School or WCC Instructions). Moreover,
attendance at weekend mass is a duty, a necessity and a
requirement.
MARRIAGES
Must be arranged at least six months in advance before any social plans are finalized. The earlier you contact the priest the better. The Celebration of Marriage is set for Saturdays. All couples must attend Diocesan Marriage Preparation Classes.
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
This Sacrament is provided to any sick person who requests it. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of the illness is sufficient.
FUNERALS
Your Funeral Director will contact the pastor on your behalf in order to make arrangements for the Church availability. We are always available to assist in any way that we can.
HOLY ORDERS - Vocations
"Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees: episcopate, presbyterate, and diaconate."
Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1536
